You might hate hearing it, but if you want a full-figured physique and the strength to go with it, you’re going to have to train legs on a routine basis. Too often leg days get skipped over or become something that athletes decide to push off for a week or two. However, majority of your strength and power will come from your legs, which will give you what you need to lift more weight and develop other parts of your body. Here is a look at some of the top squat stands and squat racks available on today’s market.
And don’t get too upset if you hate training legs; because these stands also will allow you to get in some trap shruggin’, bicep blastin’, and bench pressin’ exercises in as well. Ok so lets get right into it…
The Rogue 90: Monster Lite Squat Stand
We start with the company that can do wrong in terms of garage gym equipment, Rogue Fitness. From the second you lay your eyes on this machine, it just screams, “come lift on me” which might even make you enjoy your leg training even more.
The material of the rack is solid steel and built to last. The frame is 92” in total height, which makes it easy to do pull-ups on either the fat or skinny bars affixed at the top. The frame that holds the machine together is a 3×2 tubing system that has plenty of hole-placement options for you to adjust the height or where you put your barbell. The frame also measures a base of 48” x 49” on the ground, so it’ll be plenty sturdy in your garage gym.
If you have already added a few pieces of Rogue equipment to your garage gym, it only makes sense that you also add the Monster Lite squat stand. Simply throw a weightlifting platform underneath and you can get in some killer, and stabilized, leg workouts in. Or you can pull your Rogue adjustable bench over to the stand and get in some bench press in. Whatever you decide to train, make sure you are doing it on your Rogue Monster Lite Squat Stand in your garage gym.

Valor Athletics BD-7 Power Rack With Lat Pull
The Valor Athletics BD-7 Power Rack is an alternative to the Monster Lite Squat Stand. They are both priced in the same ball park, but they provide varying options.
One major benefit to the Valor BD-7 is the four different plate storage pegs. This allows you to keep weights from being left around your garage gym, but also within reach for you to load up your barbell for some squats or shrugs.
The other element to this machine that really stands out is the row and lat pull part. That’s right, if you check out the Valor BD-7, you’ll notice that there is a row cable located at the bottom of the stand and a lat pull down cable on top. This makes it wicked easy to knock out some alternative exercises, without having to get an entirely different machine to do so. We love this feature and sets the BD-7 apart from other squat racks.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Valor BD-7 is a caged unit. So while the Monster Lite is open and allows for you to step back as far as you need, if you are wanting to take your barbell out of the BD-7 area, you’ll have to adjust accordingly. But outside of that, it’s still a great investment and offers so many neat features that you won’t find on other racks.

Deltech Fitness Power Rack/Squat Rack
Just a quick mention on the Deltech Fitness Power Rack/Squat Rack. This rack is quite similar to the PowerLIne PR200X, but it appears to be much more sturdy. This rack also has a pull-up bar, spotter rods and a pegs for you to rack your barbell.
The Deltech also offers a powdercoat paint, which looks great in your garage gym and is likely to withstand a beating over the life of the rack.
Just because we haven’t gone into as much detail with the Deltch as the PowerLine 200X, doesn’t mean that it isn’t just as great of a machine. On the contrary, the Deltch is just as, if not more, sturdy as the other options. However, we already went into detail as to what a power rack can do, so we won’t bore you with the details.

York Barbell FTS Press and Squat Stand
If you are looking to keep your costs down, the York Barbell FTS Press and Squat Stand is a consumer friendly option. However, even with its lower price, it doesn’t offer as much as say the Valor BD-7 and it may not be as aesthetically pleasing as the Monster Lite. Nonetheless, it is a viable option for your garage gym.
The York FTS offers 2/3 steel tubing alongside the machine, which makes for a height of 49”. If you haven’t guessed, that means that this machine doesn’t come with any type of pull-bar or lat pull down equipment. Nonetheless, the height is efficient enough to use as a squat rack, and the 12 different peg settings make for it to easily be adjusted to lower for bench or press formations.
The FTS also offers two plate storage pegs in the back.
The York Barbell FTS is a solid investment, though it doesn’t offer the bells and whistles as some of the other racks on this list. But it should still be considered for some garage gyms.

PowerLine PPR200X Power Rack
The PowerLine PPR200X is a fully enclosed power rack station, but without the same features as the Valor BD-7.
This machine is 82” in height and there is an added bar that lets you do pull-ups. However, it’s obvious at first glance that this machine is more intended to be used for squats, presses and shrugs, than it is for pull-ups, so you might have to get a bit fancy.
An added bonus of the PowerLine is the saber-style safety rods that run alongside the rack. These are multi-functional for a variety of reasons. First of all, these rods allow you to place your dumbbell somewhere during shrug exercises. However, it’s advised that you still use the pegs, especially if you are lifting some serious weights.
Secondly, the rods allow you to put them alongside your bench if you are doing any type of press. If you don’t have a spotter around, you can use these rods will allow you to push yourself and lift a lot of weight, without the risk of losing control and not being able to lift the weight back up.
If the BD-7 seems to be a bit too much for you, the PowerLine PPR200X is a great alternative option.

The bottom line is that all of these racks are the perfect addition to your home gym. Personally, we really like the innovation that the BD-7 offers in terms of a lat pull down and row cable included in a rack. Then again, if you are a huge fan or Rogue Fitness, the Monster Lite is going to be the way to go. But if either of those options are overkill, the PowerLine PPR200X, York FTS or Deltech rack are all options that’ll do you justice for your garage gym.
And with any of these racks in your garage or home, you’ll never want to skip leg day again.
